For the final concert of the RPAC Redland Sinfonia season, the Sinfonia reaches out to the arts community in the Redlands to celebrate the life and work of prominent Redlands artist and musician, Jindrich Degen (4.4.1923 – 12.9.2022), who had many solo exhibitions at the Redland Art Gallery.
In his earlier life, Jindrich played oboe in the Prague National Theatre and the Great Theatre Orchestra, Gothenburg, before emigrating to Australia, where he played in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
By a remarkable coincidence, oboist Eve Newsome later took his place in the MSO before coming to live in the Redlands and will pay tribute to Jindrich’s life and art with a series of beautiful solos for the oboe. The orchestra will also perform a sparkling selection of well-known classics, jazz and movie themes.
