Why Dance with Us?
10.00 - 10.45am Ballet for Brain Injury
A tailored dance workshop, underpinned by research, for people living with acquired brain injury, including those post-stroke or post-brain cancer. Dance has been shown to help people surviving brain injury to re-inhabit their bodies and cope with emotional, cognitive and physical challenges that result from brain injury. Due to the artistic and creative nature of ballet and other dance forms, brain injury participants can experience the freedom inspire and create movement based on their lived experience.
You can participate even if you have never danced before – it’s about trying something new and fun, reducing isolation and meeting others with similar lived experience! We advise participants to attend with a support person or loved one, who can enjoy the experience alongside them.

10.45 - 11.15am Social Morning Tea for All Participants
We will be hosting a catered community morning tea in between our Dance for Health classes and encourage all registered participants to join us before or after their respective class, offering an opportunity for connection with your fellow participants.

11:30am - 12.30pm Dance for Parkinson’s
Anyone living with Parkinson’s, their carers, partners and friends are welcome to participate in this specialised creative class, based on the international Dance for PD® program and delivered in partnership with Dance for Parkison’s Australia.
Research suggests dance can improve cognitive performance and reaction times, and improve balance, flexibility and coordination, helping to support the management of associated symptoms for those living with Parkinson’s disease. Dance for Parkinson’s classes foster an enjoyable and sociable environment for artistic exploration through movement and music.
