A ballet and repertoire class for adults and active seniors familiar with basic ballet concepts.
Ballet for Adults and Active Seniors is a ballet and repertoire class designed for adults and seniors who have some prior ballet experience (whether recent or many years ago) and are ready to re-engage with dance classes in a supportive, appropriately paced environment.
These classes build on foundational ballet technique and terminology, offering a structured yet adaptable approach to barre, centre work and repertoire. Queensland Ballet Teaching Artists will guide participants with layered-level options to allow all to recall and build on knowledge, refine technique, focus on strength and mobility, and reconnect with the musicality and artistry of ballet.
Ideal for adults and active seniors familiar with basic ballet concepts, this class offers a joyful opportunity to keep moving, stay challenged, and dance alongside others who share a love of ballet within the welcoming and encouraging RPAC and Queensland Ballet community.
What to expect
- A gently-structured ballet and repertoire class designed for active adults and seniors with some prior experience
- Ballet classes that follow a traditional ballet class structure – gentle warm-up, barre exercises, some centre work, an adapted piece of Queensland Ballet repertoire (all with layered options for different levels) and a cool-down
- Use and explanation of familiar ballet terminology and classical movement vocabulary
- A focus on technique, musicality, strength, mobility and artistry
- A supportive, ability-aware environment that encourages personal progression
What to bring
- Comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily
- Ballet/dance shoes, socks or light, flexible sneakers (all are welcome)
- A water bottle
This class is best suited to those with some previous ballet experience, no matter how long ago.
