I Don’t Want to Die in Melbourne looks closely at the difficult decisions families face as an elderly parent begins to lose independence. Through wit, honesty and restraint, the play explores memory, autonomy and care, asking what it means to age with dignity in a world driven by convenience and good intentions. Beneath its humour lies a deeply human story about love, responsibility and the fear of being displaced at the end of life.

About the Play Reading 
This Play Reading, presented by Theatre Redlands, invites audiences into the early creative life of the work. With scripts in hand and minimal staging, a play reading foregrounds language, story and performance, offering a rare opportunity to hear the play and engage with its themes in a raw and immediate form.
