Sacred music has great depth of meaning and emotion.
In the first half of the program, we celebrate the Easter story with music from Bach’s greatest work St Matthew Passion, as well as Schubert’s timeless Ave Maria and the moving cello concerto based on the Jewish liturgy Kol Nidrei. In the second half of the concert, we portray more earthly types of passion with Mendelssohn’s grand Wedding March and the vibrant Czech music of Smetana and Dvorák.
Featuring: David Freisberg (cello)
Program includes:
Bach - St Matthew Passion (excerpts)
Schubert - Ave Maria
Bruch - Kol Nidrei
Haydn - La Passione Symphony
