Take a seat by the campfire for a morning of sing-along classics
Darren Coggan is one of Australia’s most exciting and diverse artists, a masterful storyteller with a knack of weaving fascinating and perceptive tales through his songs. He is renowned for his critically-acclaimed portrait of Cat Stevens in Peace Train – The Cat Stevens Story which played to packed theatres across Australia, including a sold-out performance at The Sydney Opera House. More recently he wowed audiences with his moving tribute to Glen Campbell in Like a Rhinestone Cowboy.
This year, the Golden Guitar winner returns to the RPAC stage with his new show Darren Coggan’s Campfire. This will be an intimate performance around a campfire, with moments of laughter and reflection, as he shares timeless tunes that so many of us have sung along with.
You can look forward to a fabulous selection of songs Darren has embraced and remarkably re-created throughout his career, celebrating artists such as Glen Campbell, James Taylor, John Denver and of course, Cat Stevens. Try A Little Kindness, Rhinestone Cowboy, You’ve Got a Friend, Country Roads, Father and Son and Moonshadow are just some of the legendary songs that will feature in the show.
From humble beginnings, strumming a guitar by the ‘Bidgee River in his beloved hometown of Wagga Wagga, to touring the world with Peace Train, Darren has forged a unique and diverse career across the music and television industries.
He welcomes you to warm yourself at his campfire for an entertaining morning of story and song; so grab a cuppa and settle in for a sing-along.
