2010 Performance Season

Welcome to Redland Performing Arts Centre’s 2010 performance season! You are invited to experience the magic and excitement of live performances all throughout 2010 when we present our largest and most diverse season of entertainment, with something for everyone!

The 2010 performance season features some of Australia’s finest performers, who are acclaimed both in Australia and around the world. Opera Queensland, the Queensland Youth Orchestra2, internationally acclaimed guitarist Karin Schaupp & the Flinders Quartet are all coming to your Centre this year. Well loved actress Joan Sydney heads up a fine cast in the smash hit comedy Dirty Dusting  and Shorter & Sweeter the biggest little play festival in the world, will showcase some of the best of Australian theatre in a unique 10-minute play formula that is bound to please every taste. Flamenco dance, the ancient art of taiko drumming, dance & song, cutting edge indigenous theatre, rap, hip hop, beat boxing, percussion, break dancing and more are all part of a wonderful years entertainment.

Flamenco Fire – Primavera Mia…The ritual of the celebration of the new spring. A celebration of birth and life. A time for song and dance. Centred around beautifully crafted dance ensembles, and a fully choreographed lighting and stage display, Primavera Mia will transport audiences to the spring fiestas of Spain. Since 1999, Australia’s only national flamenco company – Flamenco Fire – has been thrilling audiences with a heady mix of traditional and contemporary flamenco music, dance and song.

Blessings of the earth
Featuring Riley Lee, Shakuhachi

Friday 29 October, 7.30pm

Blessings of the Earth features the full range of TaikOz’s dynamic taiko drums – including the 250kg ôdaiko Grand Drum – as well as a solo dance, Solo from Kaidan: A Ghost Story, choreographed by the internationally acclaimed Meryl Tankard. The performance also features beautiful melodies for the bamboo flutes, as well as traditional and contemporary songs. As with all TaikOz performances, Blessings of the Earth can be enjoyed by all ages.
