Welcome to Redland Performing Arts Centre’s 2012 performance season!

2012 gets underway with family music theatre production The Gruffalo’s Child, and the return by popular demand of British music legends The Searchers.
Enjoy the brilliant live acoustics of the Centre’s Concert Hall for The Australian Voices in Concert and the Australian String Quartet, who will perform with internationally acclaimed Queensland clarinet soloist Paul Dean!
Lovers of a fun night out with lots of laughs will be excited to see three great comedies and some of Australia’s finest comic talent on offer with Biddies, The Housekeeper and Chasing the Lollyman set to keep our devoted comedy fans laughing out loud!
Young children and their families can enjoy The Bugalugs Bum Thief, based on the popular children’s book by Tim Winton, and Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit, based on the books by Beatrix Potter!
Don’t miss The Weather and Your Health, a charming story of rural youth, and in the lead up to Remembrance Day, Darren Coggan in War Stories – A salute in Story and Song to the ANZAC Spirit.
Expressions Dance Company will perform award winning choreographer Natalie Weir’s - R&J, in a beautiful dance production inspired by the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet.
A special treat that people of all ages will enjoy is I, Bunyip, from Erth Visual and Physical Theatre, which explores the mystical world of creatures from our indigenous folklore, with lifelike puppets and stunning visual effects.

THE SEARCHERS – 50th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR 
Following a sold out concert in the Redlands in 2011, The Searchers are true to their word, and have included the Redlands on their itinerary for their 50th Anniversary World Tour. THE AUSTRALIAN VOICES IN CONCERT
The Australian Voices in Concert, under the direction of award winning composer and artistic director Gordon Hamilton, will delight fine music lovers. Internationally recognised as one of the finest vocal ensembles of its type in the world, this talented group of young singers aged between 17 and 28 will perform a beautiful concert program, including classic sacred, romantic and renaissance music, and a range of exciting Australian contemporary compositions.

THE WEATHER AND YOUR HEALTH
Written and performed by Bethany Simons with Andrew Dodds, and nominated for two Green Room Awards, The Weather and Your Health is a trip down memory lane.
Don’t miss this intimate play about country life, as seen through the eyes of Nan who spent her formative years in the NSW town of Gilgandra before moving to the ‘big smoke’...Dubbo!

NATALIE WEIR'S - R&J
Following her award-winning 2010 production Where The Heart Is, Natalie Weir creates R&J, three moving love stories inspired by the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet. Set across three different eras, this new production reinforces the notion that love – no matter what age you are, or what age you are in – is eternal and its power everlasting.
Don’t miss Queensland’s own award winning Expressions Dance Company. R&J is Romeo and Juliet for our times...it will pull at your heart strings.

THE BUGALUGS BUM THIEF
Based on the popular children’s book by Tim Winton, The Bugalugs Bum Thief tells the hilarious tale of the town of Bugalugs, where the residents wake up one morning to find their bums missing!

I, BUNYIP

CHASING THE LOLLYMAN
Chasing the Lollyman is a one man show devised and performed by one of Queensland’s most dynamic and funny Indigenous performers, Mark Sheppard. It is a joyous sharing of stories, a celebration of urban Indigenous identity and takes a satirical look at the media and popular culture.

THE HOUSEKEEPER
Two of Australia’s best comic actors, Evelyn Krape and Peter Moon, combine in this offbeat, delightfully zany comedy about a middle-aged, rather stuffy bachelor and the eccentric bag lady he hires as a housekeeper.
