Our Languages Matter - FREE NAIDOC Showcase headlined by Coloured Stone
Presenter:
Redland Performing Arts Centre in association with Redland City Council
Description:

A celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture

The stories culture and traditions of NAIDOC Week will be celebrated at Our Languages Matter: A NAIDOC Showcase. NAIDOC Week was an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history, and this year runs from 2 - 9 July 2017. The 2017 theme Our Languages Matter aims to emphasise and celebrate the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in both cultural identity, linking people to their land and water, and in the transmission of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, spirituality and rites through story and song.

Join us for a free community celebration featuring art and performances that demonstrate the strong connection Indigenous people have with the Redlands. There will be traditional and contemporary dance, storytelling, song and art displays. Coloured Stone will headline the afternoon and full details of the other performances and activities will be available on this page the month prior to the event.
