Quandamooka Festival


The Quandamooka Festival is pleased to present Balka Bitni – a youth-led event of poetry, performance and spoken word that will be a highlight of the Festival’s winter season.

Developed under the directorship of Quandamooka artist/producer, Sachem Parkin-Owens*, the performance will showcase new works and performances by Redlands youth alongside professional performers from a variety of genres.

Performances will include ballet and contemporary dance, poetry, hip-hop and rap, visual arts and theatre and follows the Balka Gana and Gunyal*Scar performance in 2016.

*2017 Queensland Poetry Festival joint winner of the Oodgeroo Noonuccal Indigenous Poetry Prize, Sachem is an Emerging Arts and Cultural Events Producer with the Quandamooka Festival under an Australia Council for the Arts’ Chosen sponsorship.

Saturday 18 August, 2.30pm & 7.30pm  
RPAC Concert Hall
2 hours 5 mins, including a 20 minute interval (subject to change)
