Be moved and uplifted by Handel’s stunning oratorio
Handel’s enduring sacred masterpiece, with its famous Hallelujah chorus, is a much-loved Christmas tradition.
It will be brought back to the RPAC stage by Redland City Choir, with the prestigious, international conductor Dr David Keith. They will be joined by an exceptional cast of soloists, includingKym Hebblewhite (soprano), Anita Taylor (alto), Matthew Hickey (tenor) and Jason Barry-Smith (baritone) for this stunning oratorio.
From its first performances in Dublin in April 1742, the Messiah has become one of the best-known choral works in Western music. It is one of only a handful of works dealing with the totality of the Christian message, with its libretto telling the story of Jesus’ birth, life, death, resurrection, and final victory over sin and death. This timeless choral piece is filled with passion and emotion and is the perfect way to welcome in and celebrate the Christmas season.
After this beautiful choral piece, you can look forward to enjoying some singalong Christmas carols to bring the concert to a festive and fun end.
